Changing accountants: What to watch out for before switching firms?

Changing accountants may seem like a risky step for many businesses, but with a well-prepared handover, the transition can be completed smoothly within a few weeks. Below, we have summarised what you should pay attention to when looking for a new accounting firm.

The handover is not your responsibility

When taking over a company, we cooperate directly with the previous accountant to manage the handover. This means that opening balances, general ledger balances, fixed asset records and the status of tax returns are reconciled at a professional level — you do not need to act as an intermediary between the two offices.

Ask what is included in the fee

Comparing accounting fees only makes sense if you know exactly what is included. Our accounting fee includes representation before the authorities, payroll services for up to three employees at no additional charge, as well as the preparation of personal income tax returns for executive officers. We do not charge a separate consultation fee: if you have a question, you can call us.

The price is not based on company size

Our pricing is based on the amount of work required, not on the size of the company. A business with only a few accounting documents requires a different level of work than a multi-site company issuing a large number of invoices — therefore, we determine the fee individually after a consultation.

Check how your data is handled

In our office, data is not stored on local servers, but on servers operated by a hosting provider specialised specifically in accounting firms. This ensures data security as well as reliable and legally compliant use of the software. Access to source documents can be provided both in traditional paper form and through software integrations; where possible, invoices and bank statements are booked automatically from electronically generated data.
